Who we are

Coverground is a trade name of Jeroen Smeets, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 30262340, VAT ID NL001416101B91, based in Houten, the Netherlands. You can reach us at hi@coverground.eu; we answer in English and Dutch.

What Coverground is

Coverground is a web service for building guided walking and cycling routes and publishing them as web pages that anyone with the link can follow. These terms cover your subscriber account on app.coverground.eu, the routes you publish with it, and this website.

Your account

An account belongs to an organisation or person (the subscriber) and is managed by its users. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has access to it.

Plans and payment

• Plans differ in the number of routes you can publish; the current plans and prices are on the pricing page. Prices include VAT.
• Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider Mollie.
• An upgrade applies immediately and unused time on your old plan is credited. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the period you paid for.
• Cancelling works the same way: your plan runs until the end of the paid period and then becomes the free plan. Routes over the free plan's limit are unpublished, newest first — you choose to confirm this before it happens, and nothing is deleted.
• If a payment fails, your routes keep working for a month while we remind you. After that, they show visitors a notice that they are temporarily unavailable, with a link to your own website, until payment completes.
• We may change prices; changes apply from your next billing period and we tell you in advance.

Your content

The routes, texts and photos you add stay yours. You give us the permission and/or necessary licence to host them and show them to the people you share your content with — that is all we do with them. You are responsible for having the rights to what you upload and for what it contains. You will indemnify Coverground from claims of third parties concerning your content.

Published routes are public web pages: anyone with the link can view them. Embedding a route only works on your own website and on sites you approve.

Acceptable use

Do not use Coverground for anything unlawful, misleading or harmful — including routes that send people somewhere dangerous or onto private land without permission. We may unpublish content or suspend an account that breaks these terms; we contact you first unless the situation makes that impossible.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Coverground available and routes walkable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We improve the product continuously; the changelog records notable changes. If we ever discontinue the service, we give you at least three months' notice and a way to export your content.

Liability

Following a route outdoors is at the walker's own risk: conditions change, and a path that was fine yesterday may not be today. Our liability for damages is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event, except where Dutch law does not allow that limitation.

Privacy

Coverground runs on servers in Europe. Visitors' location and compass direction stay on their own device, and we count route visits without identifying who visitors are. What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it is set out in our privacy statement; you can also ask us anything about your data at hi@coverground.eu.

These terms

We may update these terms; meaningful changes are announced to subscribers in advance. Dutch law applies, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands.
